 Better Logos
for your Artwork

There is probably nothing more frustrating or disappointing when preparing your artwork for printing than to see a logo or illustration in print that looks fuzzy or bitmapped, while it looked perfect on the screen. This is usually due to the picture being copied and pasted from a web page. Most customers have good originals for their own logo, the type of logos we find customers tend to copy from web pages are for trade organisations they belong to, sponsors of events or charities, or logos for products they supply.
.
Web illustrations are quite small, and of a low resolution - screen resolution, usually around 72ppi (pixels per inch). They are purposely made this way to ensure fast loading of web pages, yet they look fine on the screen.
.
When we come to print them the low resolution becomes apparent. The optimum resolution for printing is 300ppi at the size they are to be printed.
.
There are ways to overcome this. If the logo you want is of a national or international brand, there is a website offering free downloads of high resolution versions of logos.
.
Go to http://www.brandsoftheworld.com and do a seach for your logo. If you find the logo you want here, but it is in a format not supported by your software - some are EPS files, some are CDR files, let us know - if it is for a job we are going to print we will happily download the file for you and convert it to a JPEG which you can use, and email it to you.
.
Trade organisations usually give you acces to the logo in a high resolution on their website, normally you have to log in to prove your membership, or they will supply print outs of a sharp version of the logo. In respect of logos for your suppliers products, if not on the brands of the world website, a good scan of a logo can be obtained from brochures or letterheads from the company concerned.
.
If you have a scanner you can scan these at a high resolution and save it as a JPEG file. If you don't have a scanner we will do this for you free of charge if we are going to print the job.
